Despacito by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed within less than six weeks. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop which not only brought attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in 2015. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin, 2019 In the year 2020, some Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of their genre to the mainstream. However, a younger generation like Rauw Alejandro was keen to continue the evolution. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
